Option IDs, similar to Field IDs, are internal references, in this case to options, which are created to store groups of values such as a Course Category, Location or reseller. These values can be used in plugins or JavaScript files to refer to specific groups of values, or values within these groups, usually these are linked to a field - therefore you will likely need to obtain the fieldid as well. Referring to ids means that it does not matter if the name changes, the id remains the same.
